Enock Odede propels Kenya FC to a KC invitational triumph over upset minded Sudanese as Lisaka mans the midfield while Mulama marshals defense.
In a classic match up of the titans, an injured, Odede helped a spirited Kenyan team put to any challenge from the upset minded Sudanese team on Sunday at the KCI invitational tournament. Coached by a Liberian coach, the Sudanese were aiming to strike first. However, the Kenyan defense marshaled by Simon Mulama, Kidwaro and Ken Kagiri kept them at bay. Kenya was quick to strike. Odede received a pass from Chris Lisaka, dribbled past one defender, raced to the right flank before releasing a cross by the goalmouth, which was easily tapped in by a waiting Hakim into the left corner of the net. The Sudanese however were quick to answer back in what looked like a breakdown in defense by the Kenyan side to make the score even. Then as they celebrated, Odede received, yet another long pass, dribbled by a helpless Sudanese defender before blasting the ball into the net to make the score 2-1 in Kenya’s favor. After half time, Odede rested for a couple of minutes to nurse the pain and was substituted by David. After a relentless search for an equalizer, Odede came back only to put the last nail on the coffin erasing any hopes of an equalizer and sealing the victory for the Kenyan FC. The first ever memorial weekend tournament played at Leo Alvey Park in Kansas City, Kansas, featured a total of five teams KC international FC, hosts, Sudan, Kenya, Somalia and Mexican Café. Kenya reached the final with ties with Sudan and Somalia and win over Mexican Café while Sudan reached the Final with wins over Somalia, and KC international FC and a tie versus Kenya FC |
